About Photofeature
L a r a P l a t m a n is the Director of Photo Feature Ltd. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts & Brother of the Art Workers Guild. Her work can be found in the collections of the Australian National Library and Victoria and Albert Museum. She has a regular column with Girl Racer magazine and contributes to BBC News in Pictures, Hoop-Lab.com and The-latest.com. Coming from a family who produced theatrical costumes, Lara grew up surrounded by creative people. She trained as a photographer and then a journalist, and now specialises in documenting areas of culture that are often considered to be eccentric or endangered. Her first book, Art Workers Guild 125 Years: Craftspeople at Work Today (2009), is a collection of portraits of 130 craftsmen in their working environments. Her second book, Harris Tweed, from land to street (2011), offers insights into a lifestyle whose continued existence may surprise many, this group portrait is a heartfelt celebration of craftsmanship and a way of life.
